The Archipelago is in the North-East of Sardinia, it is made up of 62 islands and small isles, whose coastlines add up to about 180 km. They are made up of granite rocks, which on many islands are the tourist attractions, given the rock formations that have been shaped by the forces of nature throughout the centuries.

The National Park of La Maddalena was founded in 1994, first in Sardinia. Today one must pay a small fee to enter the park called the “landing fee”. The park has a rich vegetation formed by Mediterranean scrub (myrtle, mastic, arbutus, juniper and heather) it is also inhabited by many animal species, some of which are endemic to the islands. The islands consist of an important stop during bird migration as well. The diversity of the flora and the fauna of the islands make the Archipelago one of the most important areas in Sardinia for its biodiversity and multiple endemic species.

The bays, the beaches and the coves of the islands are famous and appreciated all over the world for the colors of the sea and the crystal-clear waters that vary from light blue, to turquoise to emerald green. These rare beauties have created great interest in organized boat tours, indeed, the only way to visit these magnificent islands in their entirety is with either one’s own boat, or as an alternative, utilizing boat rental services with or without a skipper. ITS ISLANDS
ISLAND OF LA MADDALENA AND SANTO STEFANO
LA MADDALENA AND SANTO STEFANO
La Maddalena, with its 20 square km, is the main island of the archipelago therefore giving it its name and it is also the only inhabited island apart from small settlements around the island of Caprera and the remaining islands. It is also known as the small Paris and is worth the visit for its historic center and characteristic narrow alleys and of course its coves and beaches.
The island of Santo Stefano is only 3 square km and is privately owned apart from its eastern coast where there is an almost disused Italian Naval base.
What to visit:
Do not miss out on visiting Cala Spalmatore, nominated as one of the most beautiful beaches in Italy in 2019, Bassa Trinita, Capocchia d’ù Purpu (Octapus’ Head), I Giardinelli, Cala Francese.
Santo Stefano is known for the presence of the US NAVY military base that was there from 1972 to 2008, the granite statue of the Italian Navy military officer Costanzo Ciano, Cala Levante and Villa Marina, which is a great place to take shelter from the strong Mistral winds.

ISLAND OF CAPRERA
CAPRERA ISLAND
The island of Caprera can be reached by sea or by land, crossing the Moneta bridge that connects it to the island of La Maddalena. It is known mainly for its uncontaminated nature and for the presence of Giuseppe Garibaldi, who lived his last years on the island. Today it is still possible to visit his home rich in historical relics and has been transformed into a museum. On the island it is possible to practice a multitude of sports activities, for example hiking, mountain biking, free climbing and many more, along its many nature trails immersed among the Mediterranean brush.
What to visit:
Along its coastlines is where you’ll find the best the island has to offer, like for example Cala Coticcio, also known as Tahiti, for its similarity to the Polynesian island, Cala Caprarese, Cala Napoletana, Cala Andreani, La Spiaggia del Relitto, famous for the wooden skeleton remains of an antique relic which are still partially visible and Cala Serena.
You must not forget about the Caprera Centro Velico founded in 1967. It is the largest sailing school in the Mediterranean Sea and here you can participate in courses from beginner level to advanced.

ISLAND OF SPARGI AND SPARGIOTTO
The island of Spargi is the largest of the smaller islands with an area of about 4 square km with a perimeter of 11 km. It develops very high, reaching the height of 153 meters at the highest point of Guardia Preposte.
Close to the Strait of Bonifacio is an island whose eastern part is full of coves among the most famous of the archipelago.
Spargiotto is part of the integral land protection area, which means that access to the island is prohibited . Here there are no beaches but only granite rocks that plunge into the water, becoming a fascinating destination for the practice of diving.
What to visit:
Cala Corsara , once a refuge for pirates and famous for the high presence of characteristic rocks, Cala Granara, Cala Soraya (or Cala Ciaccaro) which owes its name to the homonymous Persian princess who loved to spend her days in this oasis wonderful, Cala Connari (or Cala dell'Amore) with an almost impalpable fine sand.

BUDELLI ISLAND
THE ISLAND OF BUDELLI
Budelli island, the pearl of the Archipelago is south of the islands of Razzoli and Santa Maria, separated by the Secca del Morto. The highest point of the island is Monte Budello at 87 meters and its coastline is 12 km long.
What to visit:
It is known mainly for its famous Spiaggia Rosa, or Pink Beach, emblem of the Park and testimony of the marvels of nature. A microorganism called Miniacina Miniacea, that reproduces through a very long process in the Posidonia seaweed gives the beach its pink color. Another beautiful beach you shouldn’t miss is the Spiaggia del Cavaliere, which lies directly on the surface of water called Piscine naturali, Natural Swimming Pool, with its crystal-clear water.

SANTA MARIA ISLAND
SANTA MARIA
The island of Santa Maria is about 2 square km with a about 10 km of coastline. To the north is the Passo dello Strangolato, which separates it from the island La Presa, that most times is mistakenly thought of as being a part of the island of Santa Maria, when in reality, it is its own separate island. The island of La Presa is the most northern point of Sardinia.
On the island of Santa Maria there are a few exclusive homes, where it is possible to stay to spend unforgettable vacations in total relaxation and away from all the stress of your daily life.

What to visit:
Among the beauties the island has to offer there is for example, the enchanting Cala Santa Maria with its large fine white sand beach, Cala Giorgio Marino, rich in natural beauty and shallow waters with colors varying from turquoise to intense shades of blue, the Passo degli Asinelli in the north separating it from the island of Razzoli with clear light blue water and in the south the Passo del Topo, a downright natural swimming pool.

RAZZOLI ISLAND
RAZZOLI
It is one of the wildest islands of the National Park, dominated by a lighthouse facing the Mouths of Bonifacio. Its surface is 1.5 square km with a perimeter of about 12 km. The island of Razzoli is almost attached to the island of Santa Maria by the Passo degli Asinelli.

It boasts the cove of Cala Lunga, one of the most enchanting for its underwater world and don’t miss the amazing granite rock formations sculpted by nature.
